More than a Workshop

What's the biggest thing that everyone is so excited about the Photog Retreat???

Is it the much needed relaxation and beautiful Bahamas location?
...the tax deductible travel?
...the all you can eat buffets?

While all of those are pretty good reasons, the #1 reason everyone is so excited is the fact that they have a unique opportunity to not only learn from some of the top industry professionals and like minded peers, but they will really get to know and interact with them on a personal level!

The building and encouraging of community is what the heart of this retreat is all about. Every speaker shares that perspective and not only wants to share their knowledge and experience but they are eager to get to know and learn from all of you as well!

So much more than just a workshop... All of us have been to workshops or seminars in the past where we were part of a huge crowd, just another number and walked away with some good information: but how many of us would have loved to have lunch or dinner with that speaker- wow, what an opportunity and learning experience that would be!

It's in the casual situations of everyday life that we learn the most about ourselves and others when we all take the time to share...and this retreat will be 3 days of sharing, learning and making connections, dining and relaxing together that will transcend just business...it will change your life by having so many new friends to encourage, challenge and support you!

Photog Retreat 2010 [The Concept]

Hi everyone! I just wanted to write a brief little note about the vision and concept of the Photog Retreat [Bahamas]. I have only been in the industry a short time but have learned fast that the best path to success to to learn as much as you can and build real, lasting relationships. I have been very fortunate to have expereinced some fantastic workshops, shootouts, PUGs, SMUGs, trade shows and the like. Some of my best friends today came from chance encounters at these events. Not only have I learned so much from these friends, they continue to inspire and challenge me. When I am stumped or need a creative jolt, they are there.

The idea of the cruise came when I just decided one day it would be nice to go on a cruise...at the same time I was kicking around an idea for an informal workshop that blended a variety of speakers, focused on networking, building relationships and helping photographers work together for success...

Not too long after these ideas came along, I discovered that cruiselines have conference spaces avaiable for groups- so WHAMO- that was it!

I imeadiatley talked to my friends in the industry to get their opinion and feedback...Scarlett, Ezra, Bobby, Mel and Kara were all super supportive and very excited about the idea. So, that was all I needed to get the ball rolling!!!
